WE’VE finally procured more details of Cyrus’ new Lyric range, and it appears the UK company hasn’t missed a trick. The two products currently in the range – the entry Lyric 05 and flagship 09 – are all-in-one music centres… everything onboard, just add speakers… and music, of course.
Cyrus says the Lyric products have the capability to play music from up to 14 sources – CD, USB, FM, DAB+, streaming, TuneIn Radio, and of course, via its digital and analogue inputs. Whether your music is on your computer, a network attached storage (NAS) or phone, the Lyric is ready to roll with it.
Some of the technology found in the higher-end Cyrus products is found onboard the Lyric duo, including a disc-reading system that contrives to squeeze maximum data from a CD. The DAC is top-notch and the amp section is hybrid, with loads of power on tap.
Link a Lyric to the Internet via its Ethernet port and there’s access to some 70,000 radio stations. How cool is this. Really…
The Lyric 05 uses a 24-bit DAC and churns out 80 watts per channel, while the 09 has an upsampling 32-bit chip and 170wpc amp. The unusual looks are a breakaway from Cyrus’ familiar shoebox design. The important question is… would you buy this somewhat odd-looking thing for your lifestyle system?
