IT’S here again, folks, the KL International AV Show (KLIAV), in its 14th iteration at the JW Marriott in Jalan Bukit Bintang, on July 4-6. The show itself goes back to 1994, so it’s been a pretty impressive unbroken run for two decades.
This being about the music, the organisers are also issuing the third limited edition Commemorative CD, this time comprising 14 tracks sourced from the “highest resolution master possible”. Each paying visitor to KLIAV 2014 will receive a copy of the CD.
Again, the man tasked with getting this CD out and ensuring it meets the right sonic specs is Malaysian hi-fi “sifu” and LS3/5a enthusiast Jo Ki. So while the music – a mix of classical, jazz, the blues and Chinese – is a matter of tastes, the reproduction itself is of the highest quality possible.
There’s also another freebie this time – BHPetrol is sponsoring a RM5 petrol voucher for every paying visitor. The company is also sponsoring a 58-inch Toshiba 58L9300 4K/UHD TV – visitors are entitled to participate in a competition to win this.
As for the show itself, visitors can expect to experience bigger and more affordable digital HDTVs (from 60 to 90 inches) and projectors, the latest AV equipment and, of course, a collection of high-end hi-fi gear that includes the latest in high-resolution streamers.
Keep your eyes peeled for a number of educational seminar sessions on speaker and cable technology, and audio tuning by visiting foreign AV luminaries. Details on exhibitors can be found on the site of organisers 3dot Events.
