THERE’S a new Magico coming up soon – the floorstanding S7, part of the acclaimed S-Series range.
This is a full-range, three-way unit that features new tweeter, midrange and bass driver designs derived from the limited run M-Project models.
The S7 has carved aluminium side panels machined in-house, with carefully position internal bracing to minimise resonances and create an ideal operating environment.
Housed on the lower baffle are three 10-inch woofers using extremely powerful magnets and ultra-stiff aluminum cones for deep, fast and powerful bass frequencies.
The six-inch midrange driver has cone material “formulated using Arkema Multi-Wall carbon nanotube and XG Sciences C-750 Nanographene which, combined, is 20% lighter and 300% stiffer than previous cone material designs.’
The one-inch tweeter features a diamond-coated beryllium diaphragm with optimised geometry, created using state-of-the-art Finite Element analysis modeling tools. It has extra-long excursion movement and uses a neodymium-based motor system customised to match the sensitivity and power handling capabilities of the S7 while maintaining ultra-wide dispersion characteristics and ultra-low distortion measurements.
Magico quotes a sensitivity of 89dB, impedance of four ohms and frequency response of 20Hz to 50kHz. The S7 measures 142 x 48 x 63cm (h/d/w) and weighs an awesome 136kg or so.
Available in July, the S7 retails at a mere US$58,000 a pair.
