IsoTek, the UK specialist in power products for your audio and AV systems, has a new affordable power cord made from high quality materials. The entry-level EVO3 Initium is touted to deliver “outstanding performance and mechanical integrity, which will neither degrade over time nor break your bank balance.” We like the part about bank balance, especially.
The Initium is targeted at those wanting to upgrade from the standard factory-supplied black leads that come with most hi-fi or AV gear. It uses three 2 x 2mm conductors in parallel construction with a slight rotational twist – IsoTek says this established technique is the first line of defence against RFI and EMI.
The conductors, made of 99.9999% oxygen-free copper (OFC), offer “an exceptional level of purity with enhanced conductivity, and are less likely to fracture or degrade over time.”
A polyethylene (PE) dielectric, which is chemically inert, is used for insulation and “has a very low dielectric constant over a wide frequency range, with a high degree of stress crack resistance and a low coefficient of friction, making it an exceptional dielectric.”
The rest of the cord comprises a cotton filler to reduce microphony, a paper wrap under the PVC outer jacket and bespoke audiophile-grade IsoTek moulded connectors featuring solid OFC conductors with robust nickel plating.
Each cable, with an outer diameter of 10mm, is terminated for 1.5mm lengths. IsoTek is shipping the Initium now, at a wallet-friendly price of £64.95 per piece. The Initium is suitable for CD players, preamps, tuners, power amps, Blu-ray players, music servers, TVs and soundbars, among others.
