EVER the busy bee these days, McIntosh Labs has two new products to offer – the MA7200 integrated amplifier and MAC7200 receiver, the latter for the USA market only.
The MA7200 dishes out 200 watts per channel and has an amazing 14 inputs, eight of them analogue (five RCA, one XLR, and one RCA each for phono MM and MC), and six digital (two coaxial, two optical, one USB and one proprietary MCT to be used with a McIntosh transport).
The DAC section of the amp is housed in the DA1 digital audio module, which you can update with future modules to keep the amp relevant with the times.
Currently, the DA1 has an eight-channel, 32-bit converter in quad balanced mode. The USB input does DSD, yes – it supports PCM signals up to 32-bit/384kHz, and DSD256 and DXD 384kHz for high resolution playback. The coaxial and optical inputs are good up to 24/192. You can name each input separately.
Other now-familiar McIntosh features are the monogrammed heatsinks, autoformers, power guard, bass and treble tone controls, High Drive headphone amplifier with Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD), and gold-plated speaker binding posts… and of course, those blue watt meters, black glass front panel with aluminium end caps and illuminated logo.
The MAC7200 receiver adds a built-in AM/FM tuner this whole package, the FM section featuring RDS. Each radio band has 20 presets.
Both units are available for order now.
