THE future of broad appeal hi-fi lies in traditional manufacturers joining the party for single-box music systems. And we’re seeing more of them, the latest being Cambridge Audio with its Evo One.
What is the Evo One? Cambridge says it will transform your home entertainment system, replacing the soundbar, wireless speaker and streamers, and bringing in room-filling sound via its 14 speakers and Class D, 700 watts of “breathtaking clarity and deep, controlled bass”.

In the physical realm, the Evo One employs four one-inch silk-dome tweeters, four 2.25-inch aluminium cone midrange drivers and six 2.75-inch long-throw woofers. Nothing subtle here!
Then, there’s a streamer on board with Spotify Connect, Tidal, Deezer, Qobuz, internet radio and more; Hi-Res audio supports up to 32-bit/192kHz resolution. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, of course.

A seven-band EQ and room-optimisation settings let you dial in the ideal sound for your space. There’s also multi-room capability with Google Home, Apple AirPlay and Roon compatibility.

If that’s not enough to convince you… the Evo One includes a built-in phono stage (MM), a line-level input for your CD player and whatever else via USB and optical inputs.
Welcome to the present.
