Audio Physic’s new Classic

June 15, 2012 Written by Editor

NEW loudspeaker models from acclaimed German manufacturer Audio Physic don’t come along too often, but when they do, you can expect something just a little more than special.  Enhancing the Audio Physic “entry point” are the all-new Classic 10 and Classic 20 floorstanders, which are both part of a freshly developed range.

It is obvious from the brochures we received that the Classic line – which includes a soon-to-be-introduced standmount design, centre-channel unit and the not-so-recent Luna subwoofer – is being slated to replace the older and well-received Yara models.

Technical details are sketchy – we know that the 10 uses a single mid/bass driver with the tweeter and the 20 has two bass/mid units in a D’Appolito configuration. Both speakers stand about three-and-a-half feet tall.

The Classic models also feature sandwich cabinet construction with new surfaces – what Audio Physic calls “glass high gloss”, in black or white. Yes, we’re informed that coloured glass is the material used. The bass port construction also reflects a new approach, while WBT nextgen terminals and interchangeable front panels round up the package.

Meanwhile, the evergreen Virgo (photo not available to us yet) – undoubtedly Audio Physic’s most enduring model – enters another phase in its life with the 25 Plus. This one includes ceramic foam in the woofer chamber for more depth, control and precision in the bass, special acoustic panels and optimised damping in the midrange driver chamber for higher resolution and cohesion, WBT nextgen silver terminals, stands derived from the esoteric Avantera and aluminium front with a black or white high-gloss finish and colour-coordinated front and side panels.

We’re expect one or all of these to be reviewed in the coming weeks, so stayed tuned.
