Klipsch in your ear

July 4, 2012 Written by Editor

IN-EAR headphones – or should we call them “earphones” – are increasingly big business these days. Small they may be physically, but manufacturers are finding ways to make them sound bigger and better with every new generation.

Klipsch – known better for its legendary speakers – has already staked a claim in this territory and is now set to make further inroads with the Image SR4i in-ear units, updated from a previous range.

The SR4i claims frequency response of 10Hz to 19kHz, thanks to Klipsch’s award-winning acoustics. Each pair, available in blue, yellow, orange or red, comes with four sets of various-sized ear tips for comfort, a clothing clip for the the remote/mic yoke and a cool protective case.

These are all-weather babies, with tough rubber moldings to protect them from the elements. They can be used with any audio playback device sporting a 3.5mm input but the three-button remote/mic is for iPhone (and various “i” portable devices) users who want control over playback of their units. The directional mic ensures pristine sound during phone calls, and the ‘phones are good for comfort even with hours of use.

The mic and remote are positioned at the cable yoke for a more natural feel when answering calls and controlling music. The insulation system ensures no external interferences from surrounding audio sources. If you’re big on music pumped directly into your auditory canals, check ’em out.
