VPI’s rebranded entry-level turntable… once a Nomad, now a Player

May 26, 2016 Written by The Editor

VPI Industries has re-branded its entry-level turntable and will be launching it soon as the Player. Essentially, it’s the Nomad in “version 2” with enough revisions to make it as good as new.

According to the company, “this re-branding/re-launching ties in with our recent hire of Mike Bettinger. He has examined and improved the circuitry to make the ‘table more streamlined, quieter, and versatile.”

VPI Player1

The Player has been touted as better sounding than its predecessor and sports a hard rock, light tone maple plinth, improved nine-inch arm and spindle bearing, and a removable/defeatable headphone amp. There’s also expected to be an aluminium platter option and Ortofon 2M Red cartridge offered.

Full roll out of the Player is expected to be end-June/early-July and the price range is US$800-1,200, depending on options.
