GRADO has been making headphones and phono cartridges for years, and the best thing about the headphones is that sometimes, the company offers limited edition pieces… like the ones made from whiskey barrels, Harley Davidson engine pistons, and even Oreo-coloured commission pieces.
In the latest such venture, Grado has outdone itself with The Hemp headphones. “A brilliant, warm, and precise sound rolled into a Limited Edition Grado,” is how Grado explains it… if you get the drift.

The Hemp uses Grado’s usual dynamic drivers housed in a maple and hemp housing. The driver itself is also specifically tuned for “a material we’ve never worked with before.”
Impedance is a modest 38 ohms and the Hemp ‘phones sport an impressive 13Hz-28kHz frequency response.
“To be blunt, this is one of the best sounding Limited Editions we’ve built,” the company boasts.
“The last seven decades have given us time to perfect our sound, letting the headphones reveal new notes and details in songs heard hundreds of times.”

True to the Grado ethos, every pair of headphones is handmade in the company’s plant in Brooklyn.
With drivers matched within 0.05dB, The Hemp claims to rival some of the best headphones out there. And as for the price? Just US$420 a pair, because, of course….
One of the best in the joint.
Funny, BDaggit. And true…right out of the box, listening to Times Square by Gary Burton. Doesn’t get much better than this….
