RENOWNED turntable maker Vertere Acoustics has come out with its first record platter mat. The Techno Mat has a “randomly fibrous designed top layer that provides the record with an almost air cushion like support.”
According to the company, the air cushion “keeps the inherent properties and characteristics of the vinyl record itself unchanged”, while the bonded cork/polymer compound layer “provides the required interface and connection to the platter in an inert manner.”

“The two, in combination, create as ‘neutral’ a support for the vinyl record as possible.”
The Techno Mat, which costs £130, comes in two spindle-size versions – 4.5mm for Vertere’s MG-1, SG-1 and RG-1 record players, and 7mm for other turntables. Specify your size when ordering.

Yet again, the key-phrase here for this groundless marketing BS is “according to the company” — remember this hopeless (no-) show from Vertere: https://audiofi.net/2019/08/no-ordinary-plug-and-play-this-vertere-dg-1-turntable/ ?
The new pic at the beginning of the item adds more detail — one can see why this mat is, inadvertently, likened to an ‘air cushion like support’ as ~ 15% of the mat appears to be entirely fresh-air with no support for the record at all. Utility squandered for the sake of appearance again, just like their TT…
Dave. So you don’t like the MG-1 turntable? It has gotten very good reviews.
