ATC SIA2-150

June 12, 2012 Written by Editor

Rating: ★★★★☆

Hot: Current version of this integrated amp from ATC, better known for its speakers, incorporates no major reworking, just some fine-tuning. Natural and effort-free delivery, but showing firm control of the proceedings and very transparent, in line with the company’s pro studio cred. Push it and it retains its sense of “natural-ness”. There is a tinge of warmth that makes lengthy listening sessions pleasant. Doesn’t seem too finnicky about the gear in the system. It can rock when call to, and tread lightly when required. Great bass, but never in the face.

Cold: Not cheap and there are less costly competitors that don’t lag too far behind, begging the question – are you better off with a pre/power combination for the money?

Encore: Certainly, a well-built and thoughtfully designed amp, and the looks can never be accused of being boring (this applies to the sound, too). If the budget is in your region and you want one-box convenience, listen to the ATC SIA2-150 carefully.

Specs: 150W per channel into 8 ohms, Class A/B stereo integrated amplifier / 5 RCA inputs / Record, sub and pre outputs / Headphone output / Remote control / Dimensions: 135 x 435 x 325mm (h/w/d), 20kg/ Finish: Silver

What others say:
Techradar: “Revealing, dynamic and powerful, works with a wide range of speakers, superb build quality and finish.”

The Absolute Sound: “A thoroughly modern instrument that quickly gets down to the business of making music … powerful, dynamic, and virtually colorless, it’s major league all the way.”

What Hi-Fi: “Sturdy design, hugely emotive and convincing sound, sensational timing and dynamics …ca multi-talented amp that works incredibly well across genres and can hold your attention for hours on end.”
