Jeff Rowland Continuum 250

June 1, 2012 Leave a Comment Written by SUJESH PAVITHRAN

Rating: ★★★★½

Hot: The finish itself – the chassis is hewn from aluminium – gives rise to expectations from the Continuum 250 integrated amplifier. There is a more powerful 500 in the range, but the 250 shows itself to be a pretty ballsy performer, driving fussy loads without tripping. The sound is pristine across the range, without once being detached or clinical. A sleek sonic performer, and very revealing – expect no additives. A musically involving amp that won’t harm the aural cavities through lengthy listening hours.

Cold: Bass sometimes a bit too well-mannered, and some may feel the delivery a tad relaxed. There are contenders that are more affordable and in separate boxes.

Encore: A very enjoyable amplifier for those looking for a high-end one-box unit – it is pretty well equipped and encourages you to keep listening to the music. The build quality and finish are superb, too.

Specs: 250 watts per channel x 8 ohms (500 x 4) / Peak current output: 35 amps / 2 pairs XLR inputs, 2 pairs RCA inputs, 1 pair RCA unity gain bypass, 1 pair each of balanced and single-ended outputs / Balance control / Mute / Switched mode power supply / Remote control / Dimensions: 135x 394 x 380mm (h/w/d), 18.6kg / Finish: Silver
