Bose SoundDock Series III – sound for Lightning

December 12, 2012 Written by Editor

NOW that Apple has screwed us with its new Lightning connector for the new generation of iDevices, rendering all older docks and cables incompatible, time to buckle down and look for solutions.

You could get an adaptor … but let’s be honest, what you really want with your new iPhone 5 or iTouch is new bling as well, not some tiny thingamajig no one will notice.

Enter the new SoundDock Series III system from, yes, Bose … it’s not bling in the strictest sense, but if you want to impress your guests, this one should do it. Bose, after all, is known for extracting room-filling sound from tiny speakers. This new model is specifically designed for iPod and iPhone models that come with the Lightning connector.

Bose SoundDock Series III

Bose provides an optional remote set to control the system and basic iPod/iPhone functions, including playlist navigation, while the devices are also charged while on the dock. An auxiliary input is provided, allowing connectivity with other audio gear you may possess.

The SoundDock III measures 171.5 x 304.8 x 164.7mm (h/w/d) and weighs a mere 2.1kg, but Bose promises it’s no lightweight in the sound department. To find out, you’ll need to buy one, of course, from here …
