Clearaudio Smart Phono goes V2

April 26, 2013 Written by Editor

TURNTABLES apart, Germany’s Clearaudio is also known for some rather exemplary phono stages, one of them being the popular Smart Phono, which is now being taken to the next level with the V2 version.

The original Smart Phono catered to both MM and MC needs, and the V2 continues in that tradition … it has also been enhanced in some areas for superior performance and convenience.

The low-noise op amp has been improved on, while the global power supply is in line with current electronic legislation and requirements worldwide… we read that as more “green”.

The optimised circuit is now equipped with a blue illuminated volume control, while the location of the input and capacitance settings under the chassis makes the unit more convenient for fussy tweak freaks. The chassis itself is machined from a solid aluminium block.

The Smart Phono V2, to be available in the second half of June, will retail at €499. Oh, the image here is of the current unit, as photos of the V2 and full technical specifications have yet to be released … watch this space.
