KLIAV Show 2013 – it’s here!

July 5, 2013 Written by Editor

LAST year’s Kuala Lumpur International AV (KLIAV) Show marked a first for the organisers when they released a special CD for the event. And once you start off in this direction, there’s no turning back – KLIAV Show 2013 has its own Series Two Limited Edition Commemorative CD, again put together by renowned Malaysian audiophile, architect and music enthusiast Joseph Ki.

Jo Ki, as he is more affectionately known to the Malaysian audiophile community, is also the founder of the homegrown LS3/5A club where proponents and lovers of the famous small speaker hold court.

The 15 tracks featured in the new CD were carefully selected, taking into account various musical tastes and the availability of the highest resolution masters.

You’ll find a mix of classical, jazz, opera, the blues and pop on the CD, each track accompanied with notes penned by Jo Ki explaining why the piece was chosen. It’s an interesting and lively conversation – after playing the whole CD, you’ll have an idea whether your system meets Jo Ki’s specs … or not!

The liner notes also includes details on equipment used to monitor the tracks – Jo Ki’s own, in fact!

KLIAV Show 2013

KLIAV 2013, for the 13th year straight, will be held at the J.W. Marriott along Jalan Bukit Bintang, from July 5-7. It also marks two decades that chief organiser Dick Tan, of 3Dot Events, is bringing such a show to Malaysian AV enthusiasts.

This year, expect the usual showcase of AV technologies that are new to the Malaysian market – bigger, yet more affordable digital TVs with sizes exceeding 90 inches, 4K (4016 x 2160) Ultra HD resolution displays and such, apart from the latest hi-fi gear.

Audiophiles can expect both digital and analogue gear feasts, apart from accessories and lots of music material on vinyl and CD. One of the visiting luminaries is Andrew Jones, the chief designer for Pioneer.

Show times are 10am to 7.30pm on all three days, and RM10 gets you into this AV world of wonders. The CD comes with the entry fee – for as long as stocks last.
