Meridian launches Special Edition speakers

April 1, 2014 Written by Editor

MERIDIAN Audio celebrates 25 years of making digital active loudspeakers with the Special Edition range. The UK company’s first DSP digital active loudspeaker – the pioneering D600 – was launched in 1989 and since then, Meridian has gone on to become a reference brand in the field.

The Special Edition units build on three current models and Meridian claims they’re the “most life-like sounding speakers we’ve created”.

New features on the DSP8000SE, DSP7200SE and DSP5200SE include a new beryllium-dome tweeter for enhanced transient response and clarity, and wide-bandwidth analogue electronics to elicit the best from today’s high-resolution recordings.

Also implemented is the proprietary Enhanced Bass Alignment (EBA) technology for a clearer delivery, and wider sound stage and separation between vocals and instruments, while all drive units are clamped with machined rings for firmer coupling to the cabinet, resulting in lower coloration.

The Special Edition range comes in the standard piano lacquer black or white finish, and is also available in any of Meridian’s 270 Select colours. Find out how you can audition these speakers as they tour the circuit.
