Wadia’s new digital gear – di122 decoder, a315 and a340 amps

December 1, 2014 Written by Editor

RENOWNED digital outfit Wadia is back in form after a seeming recent lull, with three new offerings – the a315 and a340 digital amplifiers and di122 digital audio decoder.

The a315 is a stereo power amp that outputs 150 watts per channel at eight ohms (250 watts into four ohms), while the a340 monoblock is rated at a beefier 400 watts (eight ohms) or 500 watts (four ohms).

The a315 features some of Wadia’s newest technology. The Frequency Switching Transmission (FST) adaptive modulation design assures full output power over the entire audio spectrum, while the Signal Surveyor monitors the output and stops amplification if unsafe levels of DC voltage are detected.

The a340 has the same technology, and adds IO Symmetry, which ensures a comprehensive balanced signal design from input through output for total system differential pairing – this, we’re told , translates to enhanced audio quality and reduced noise.

Both amps have balanced and unbalanced inputs, while the a340 has both these outputs for bi-amp configurations.

The di122 two-channel digital audio decoder has all the goodies you need on board – two coaxial and two optical inputs that accept up to 24-bit/192kHz signals, and a USB input accepting up to 32-bit signals and supporting DSD64, DSD128, DXD 352.8kHz and DXD 384kHz formats.

Balanced and unbalanced variable analogue audio outputs are offered for direct connection to a power amp or active speakers. The di122 also has a high-powered headphone output that matches a wide range of headphones.

The a315, a340 and di122 are all available now.
