Celsus Sound SP One active speakers… finished in bamboo

February 15, 2016 Written by Editor

IF you’re in the market for a pair of compact active speakers, don’t part with your money just yet – you may want to wait for the Celsus Sound SP One speakers, coming your way soon.

Uniquely, the cabinet of the SP One is made with dense, premium-quality, naturally-finished bamboo – an interesting and aesthetically pleasing departure from the hardwoods commonly used in speakers.

Celsus SP-ONE-2a

Going into this enclosure are a 3.5-inch woven carbon-fibre cone midrange river and a soft dome, horn-loaded tweeter. The choice of drivers was very specific – they match each other so well that a traditional crossover network is not needed, with a single custom capacitor handling all frequency division. Driving the speakers is an internal amplifier pumping out 60W of power.

The SP One is also equipped with Bluetooth connectivity for wireless playback from your smart devices. Expect CD-quality sound through its 4.0 Bluetooth transreceiver module with aptX technology, coupled with the SP One’s own noise-reduction.

Roused your interested yet? The SP One is due to hit shelves in March 2016 at the list price of US$649.

However, Celsus Sound is offering the SP One speakers at a deep discount in conjunction with the Encore mDSD USB-powered DAC project on indiegogo. So don’t dawdle and snap this one up now!
