Orange is the new hot for Monitor Audio

January 23, 2018 Leave a Comment Written by The Editor

IF orange is your colour, Monitor Audio’s new, er, Monitor range could be what the doctor ordered to ease you out of your black-and-white existence. We all need some colour in our lives, yes, and the orange cones on the Monitor line “offer a contemporary focus to the sleek proportions and bring fun and functionality across the range.”

There are six models in the range – two bookshelf units (50 and 100), two floorstanders (200 and 300), a centre-channel speaker (C150) and a subwoofer (MRW-10, which has been discriminated against as it is the only one with a non-orange driver). All come in a variety of finish options – black, white and walnut vinyl.

The obvious standout here is the 50, which departs from the traditional styling – it is a cube with the tweeter at the top corner, in mirrored pairs. It is meant for use in tight spaces and closer to the walls than your usual ported boxes.

All the models use the C-CAM dome tweeter (with orange trim) from Monitor Audio’s multi award-winning Bronze series, and MMP II bass mid-range and bass drivers. The line is just a notch above the Monitor Reference range, so expect prices to be very competitive.
