Prisma connects more Primare products

June 17, 2018 Leave a Comment Written by The Editor

PRISMA is Swedish manufacturer Primare’s connectivity solution for its hi-fi products, bring them into the current age of streaming/networking. Two more Prisma-enabled products have been added to the company’s range – the I35 integrated amp and CD35 CD player are now available for your enjoyment.

“Just as a prism provides a complete spectrum of colours from a single point of light, Prisma provides a complete spectrum of system management from a single point of control,” the company explains.

According to the company, the new models feature a new whole-home, high-fidelity control and connectivity solution, the platform offering network playback from stored and streamed media, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection, as well as multi-room/multi-zone connectivity and control, all managed through the Prisma application, allowing system management from any mobile device.

“The I35 Prisma is the first to use the new UFPD 2 power system, a radical reworking of Primare’s award-winning UFPD all-analogue Class-D technology. Providing two x 150 watts (eight ohms) of absolutely linear amplification, the I35 delivers naturally fast, clean and agile sound across the entire audible bandwidth. In addition to fully balanced analogue input options, the I35 includes a full-featured DAC stage enabling PCM 768kHz and DSD 256 conversion, as well as Prisma connectivity and control technology.

“With UFPD 2, we feel we have a power platform that realises the full potential of Class-D technology.”

As for the CD35 Prisma, “a state-of-the-art TEAC CD drive, Prisma connectivity and control technology combine to create in the CD player a complete digital music source. The all-new DAC stage, utilising a superb-sounding ESS Sabre chipset for conversion of music files up to PCM 384kHz and DSD 256, feeds a finely-tuned balanced analogue output stage.

“Each component part of the CD35 Prisma – the drive, the DAC, the output stage, and Prisma connection and control – contributes to what is the best CD player Primare has ever offered,” adds the company.

Both products are already shipping; prices are I35 Prisma – £4,000; I35 DAC – £3,700; I35 (analogue inputs only) – £3,200; CD35 Prisma – £2,900; CD35 (without Prisma) – £2.550.

The basic I35 or I35 DAC can be updated with DAC and Prisma modules respectively, or the CD35 CD player can have the Prisma module added at a later date.

All models come with a proprietary system remote control, and are available in black or titanium finishes.
