DENON’S PMA-150H integrated amplifier is a product clearly aimed at modern space-challenged audiophiles who want fewer components in their system, along with wireless connectivity.
“Denon has long been renowned for world class audio components, and the PMA-150H integrated network amplifier continues that tradition of audio excellence. It is designed for the audio enthusiast who doesn’t have the space for a traditional full-size component audio system, but wants amazing-sounding audio, support for high-resolution wireless music streaming and the ability to connect all of their analogue and digital sources,” says Denon brand management senior director Michael Greco.
“The amplifier is also simply a beautiful piece of electronics -the 5mm aluminium top and bottom panels designed to minimise vibration and support cooling, the vivid OLED screen and diamond-cut volume ring all demonstrate Denon’s attention to quality and detail.”

The “compact and beautiful PMA-150” lets the user easily connect all popular digital and analogue sources, including CD players, TVs, turntables, and USB devices. HEOS (Denon’s multi-room wireless platform) built-in technology enables access to music over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and wired Ethernet using the app, or streamed directly via Apple Airplay 2 and Spotify Connect.
According to the company, “every electrical component in the PMA-150H was carefully selected and custom-designed by Denon sound engineers to fine-tune audio performance and meet the highest quality standards.”
The amplifier delivers a robust 70 watts per channel (4 ohms) and supports both 4- and 8-ohm speakers. Additionally, it has a dedicated headphone amplifier circuit featuring a high-speed, ultra-low distortion wide-band amp paired with a fully discrete final output stage.

“To accommodate a wide range of headphones, the PMA-150H has an adjustable headphone impedance control, with three settings for low, medium and high impedance models. The headphone jack offers a 6.3mm connector for compatibility with premium home and professional studio headphones. “
The PMA-150H is compatible with high-resolution digital audio files like ALAC, FLAC and WAV lossless files up to 24-bit/192kHz resolution, as well as DSD 2.8MHz and 5.6MHz tracks. The premium onboard USB-DAC features PCM 32/384 and DSD file playback capability.

“Advanced AL32 Processing Plus is the latest in analogue waveform reproduction technology from Denon and creates a highly detailed audio experience free of interference and richly expressive in the lower range,” the company adds.
On board are two analogue RCA inputs, two optical digital inputs, one digital coaxial input, and USB-A and B inputs. The USB-A input supports WMA, MP3, AAC, WAV/FLAC/ALAC, 24/192 and DSD 5.6MHz files. From a computer, high-resolution output is also possible via the USB-B input, powering PCM signals up to 32/384 and DSD11.2MHz resolution.
Users can stream music from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, TIDAL, TuneIn Internet Radio, SoundCloud, Napster, Deezer or local music file libraries. The PMA-150H also offers Bluetooth connectivity, providing instant access to online music streaming.
“HEOS Built-in also enables listeners to enjoy their favourite music in any room, creating a wireless, whole-home audio experience using HEOS speakers, sound bars and/or receivers. Play the same song in every room, or select a different song for each connected room.”
Users can also employ their voice to control the PMA-150H with Amazon Alexa, Apple Siri and the Google Assistant to adjust the volume, skip to the next track, and more. Just add speakers…
The PMA-150H is now available, and retailing at US$1,099.
