Clearaudio’s Concept turntable goes Active

December 10, 2019 Leave a Comment Written by The Editor

TURNTABLE manufacturers these days want to make it increasingly easy for you to enjoy vinyl, offering packages with just about everything on board, except the wine and cheese. And latest on that list is German turntable specialist Clearaudio.

The company’s entry-level and highly successful Concept has already won numerous awards, a large part of its popularity no doubt attributable to its plug-and-play readiness out of the box.

Now comes the Concert Active, which steps up the game – it features an integrated headphone amplifier and output, so you can just plug in your cans and get cosy with your vinyl. If you want to enhance the experience, the Concept Active also has a built-in phono stage and preamplifier that sports a volume control, so you can hook it up directly to an integrated or power amp, or even to a pair of active loudspeakers! Talk about uncomplicated…

The turntable itself features the proven Concept tonearm, which has magnetic bearings to dispel issues caused by friction and noise. You can opt for either the Concept V2 MM or Concept MC cartridge as part of the package.

According the Clearaudio, all of the Concept Active’s key parameters, from tracking force to anti-skating, are fine-tuned as part of the manufacturing process, so the user only needs to hook up, sit back and enjoy.

The Concept Active, which is available now, comes in a variety of finishes – black, black/silver, or light or dark Baltic birch. Prices range from £2,000 to £2,910, depending on finish and cartridge.
