THE Pininfarina Battista… yawn… just another electric luxury hypercar to most of us audiophiles who don’t have US$2.5mil to spare, right? Wait, wait… here’s something, er, special… it’s going to be equipped with an all-Naim sound system! There, we knew this would get your attention.
Naim Audio has inked a deal with Automobili Pininfarina to bring the Brit-French company’s signature sound to the what’s been touted as the world’s “first pure-electric luxury hypercar.”
“In the electric vehicle (EV) era, audio becomes more important than ever; we see this new partnership as the opportunity to create an all-new sound experience as revolutionary as Battista itself,” says Naim.
“No more than 150 of the ultra-exclusive Battista cars will be hand-crafted by Pininfarina in Cambiano near Turin in Italy, with deliveries to clients worldwide beginning early in 2021. Each Battista will be specified with a bespoke Naim Audio system.”

The Naim press release reveals that the partnership “is the result of a close collaboration that started more than a year ago, when Automobili Pininfarina and Naim teams joined forces with the clear aim of creating a sensational and authentic audio experience for the select few future owners of Battista.”
Naim says the system will boast “best-in-class sound individualisation, with 1,300 watts of sonic power (noticeably less powerful than the car, though), 10 speakers, eight active channels and a dual voice coil subwoofer.”
Owners will enjoy an onboard DSP system, symmetrical speaker layout that is claimed to recreate an auditorium-like studio effect and extended frequency response at 40kHZ.
“Our designers and engineers have seamlessly integrated custom speakers and associated electronics into the luxurious interior of Battista. Precise locations, directions, the way of integrating the speakers in the interior vehicle design – all have gone through several testing iterations aimed at maximising the acoustic performance and delivering the purest experience of music, as close as possible to the original live source.”
We’re waiting for the advertising… “what’s luxury without a Naim…?”
