NO, it is not a mug. Sony’s SRS-XB13 is, in fact, a wireless compact speaker that you can take just about anywhere… it packs Sony’s Extra Bass feature, is both water- and dust-proof, and endures long hours of torture. Best of all, it can function as an extension of your smartphone.
The XB13, Sony tells us, features “a durable exterior and a multiway strap that can be hung on your backpack or wrist, or even from a parasol when you’re out in the sun… you can take the XB13 anywhere and you can still enjoy your favourite tunes.”
The IP67-rated speaker also promises a big and punchy sound, while two units can be mated wirelessly for a stereo spread of sound.
“A passive radiator works together with a full-range speaker to enhance low-end tones, giving bass a boost, despite the compact size. Additionally, the Sound Diffusion Processor expands sound in any space, with its DSP technology.
“It has up to 16-hours of battery life with an indicator showing on your phone how much charge is left. This means that you can enjoy yourself whilst not having to wonder how much time you have left with your music.
“Whether you’re at home or out and about, the built-in mic lets you enjoy hands-free calling through your speaker. The XB13 features Google’s Fast Pair technology so that you can connect compatible Android smartphones or tablets in seconds. Simply turn on your speaker and your nearby smartphone will prompt you to connect, so you can enjoy your music within seconds.”
A USB Type-C port is provided for charging and the XB13 comes in six colours – black, blue, taupe, coral pink, powder blue and lemon yellow.
The downer? It’s not available yet… only in August.
