COULD this be THE portable hi-fi smart speaker to rule them all? Given the manufacturer’s reputation, you’d certainly expect the Devialet Mania to be something special. It goes down to 30Hz, weighs a mere 2.3kg, offers 10 hours of wireless streaming, can be charged wirelessly, has WiFi and Bluetooth, and comes with Spotify Connect and Airplay 2 on board. The ultimate connected speaker for travel, for all purposes, and with “360° stereo sound” to boot.
“It took us four years to translate our signature sound purity into portable form, and Devialet Mania is the culmination: a 30-20,000 Hertz range, bass that you can feel in your bones, and sound that is nothing short of obsession-inducing,” Devialet boasts.

The portable speaker was engineered to “homogeneously diffuse stereo sound in every direction for the same immersive listening experience no matter your position”.
“Devialet Mania runs on DOS2, the same software ecosystem as Devialet Phantom and Devialet Dione. And that means set-up and customisation are seamless in the Devialet App: Enjoy improved sound quality via WiFi, set up your device with Alexa, receive software updates, personalise your equaliser levels, and more,” the company adds.

“Thanks to Devialet Mania’s dual streaming capabilities, you have the choice between WiFi or Bluetooth. When indoors, connect via WiFi to use Spotify Connect and Airplay 2 (for Apple users). And when you take Devialet Mania outdoors, Bluetooth auto-activates.” Oh, and there’s multi-room capability as well.
Mania’s “acoustic architecture boasts four full-range speakers that cover the entire audio spectrum from bass to medium to treble.” There are full-range drivers and two woofers built into each enclosure. It is also splash resistant, with an IPX4 rating.

The Devialet Mania is available now, retailing at €790. The special Opéra de Paris edition of the Mania, at €990, comes with the Mania Station wireless charging dock.
