WITH its new Delta PRE Mk II preamp, Canadian manufacturer Classé Audio opens up a world of possibilities to the music lover. The new version notably adds the HEOS platform, which is also used in Denon and Marantz components. This gives it streaming and multi-room capabilities compatible with services like Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, Pandora and much more.
But it’s more than just adding streaming capabilities – Classé says its digital front-end has been extensively upgraded for “imperceptible levels of distortion and truly world-class performance.”

As expected, the Delta PRE Mk II will play all popular digital formats including WAV, AIFF, ALAC, FLAC, DSD and even MQA. DLNA, Roon Ready, Apple Play 2 and USB playback? Check! All these will go through its dual 32-bit/384kHz AKM AK4497EQ DACs.
The PRE Mk II also offers an abundance of connection options, including two XLR, two RCA and dual phono inputs, five XLR and five RCA outputs as well as two USB, three coaxial and three optical digital inputs. There’s even an Ethernet port for a hardwired Internet connection and a headphone output!

Classé seems to have considered everything the modern audiophile needs and put them all in the Delta PRE Mk II – fine 0.25dB-step volume control, digital tone controls, support for both mono and stereo subwoofers, frequency and slope control, parametric equalisation and even touchscreen controls.
The preamp may be digital-driven but is far from digital-centric – that phono stage is compatible with both MM and MC cartridges.

There’s even good news for owners of the older-generation Delta PRE. An upgrade kit is available to bring all enhancements up to Mk II specification.
The Delta PRE Mk II can be yours for €12,000, while the upgrade kit costs €3,000.

I really recommend it to anyone who wants high-end quality and options at home 🙂
