Epos adds Elan 20 centre speaker to AV line-up

May 31, 2013 Written by Editor

EPOS Acoustic’s entry-level Elan series of loudspeakers, which already includes two standmount and floorstanding designs each, now offers AV enthusiasts the 20 centre-channel unit, which promises “powerful bass, a fast and dynamic sound, and high power handling.”

Driving the sound are the Elan 25mm soft-dome tweeter and twin 135mm midrange-woofers, crossing over at 2.8kHz and built into a bass reflex design. The ports are in front, so close-to-wall positioning is possible.

Bi-wiring is facilitated via of two sets of terminals that accept spade lugs, bare wire and other terminations.

According to Epos, “The 20 has been designed with wide, symmetrical listening ‘window’, so it is not essential for the speaker to point directly at the listening position.”

A plinth, comprising two wedges with non-slip foam surfaces, is also provided should the user want to experiment with tilt angles.

Epos has an optional cloth grille for the unit if users are unhappy with the provided “audiophile” baffle. The real wood veneer cabinet, styled to complement a range of interiors, is available in one finish only – black oak.

The Elan 20 is rated at 130 watts, with a frequency range of 50Hz to 25kHz, impedance of four ohms and sensitivity of 91dB. We hear it will be shipping soon.
