Devialet launches Gold Phantom

July 1, 2016 Leave a Comment Written by The Editor

DEVIALET calls the Phantom the “best wireless speaker in the world” and it’s no idle boast. The Phantom is essentially an active speaker that can be used in single or multi-room configuration, drawing its signals from a variety of physical and virtual media.

So how to better it? Devialet does it with gold – the new Gold Phantom has been touted as eight times more powerful than the plain-Jane unit, delivering 4,500 watts with 108dB levels. It also goes down to 14Hz and extends to 27kHz courtesy of a new, pure titanium tweeter.

The ADH processor (a Class A-Class D hybrid amp) is also a new patented unit that claims to deliver “beautiful, moving sound”, with no distortion, saturation or background noise. The Phantom, as you may already know, is designed and made in France, and has 102 patents.

The Gold Phantom is finished in 22-carat rose gold-plated finish… seems like the smartphone colour influences are spilling over to the hi-fi industry.
