VPI launches entry-level Cliffwood turntable

June 30, 2017 Leave a Comment Written by The Editor

YES, a VPI turntable for under US$1,000! The new entry is the Cliffwood, a tribute to the town in New Jersey where VPI has been making all its turntables for about three decades.

This turntable has a machined aluminium patter and machined aluminium gimballed nine-inch tonearm. The AC motor is the 600RPM type, with a two-speed pulley. The plinth is MDF vinyl wrap in a cool “Black Truffle” finish.

The Cliffwood comes with a VPI/Grado Green cartridge (VPIs and Grados have traditionally formed happy partnerships). We’re told the turntable can also be fully upgraded, although no further details are given.

The VPI Cliffwood will retail at a mouth-watering US$900, and begins shipping by end July or early August. The catch – for now, it is available only for the US market. World domination can wait.
