A first in Denon’s 900 Series

July 6, 2022 Leave a Comment Written by The Editor

DENON has a slew of new offerings from its 900 series: the PMA-1700NE integrated amplifier, PMA-900HNE – the brand’s first HEOS built-in integrated network amplifier – and DCD-900NE CD player.

The PMA-1700NE, a high-current unit that delivers 140 watts per channel, features connectivity for both analogue and digital sources, including an MM/MC phono stage. Also provided via its onboard DAC is support for high-resolution digital music of up to 11.2MHz DSD and 32-bit/384kHz resolution. The USB-B input is mated to a precise master clock and high-performance DAC that effectively suppresses jitter for best performance during digital playback.

The PMA-1700NE, which has A/B speaker terminals and a subwoofer pre-out, is mechanically a vibration-resistant design that ensures maximum isolation, with premium parts used throughout. These include an electronic volume control for smooth, channel-linear adjustment of output levels, and gold-plated speaker terminals and analogue source-inputs to prevent corrosion over time and maintain reliable, long-term connections.

The HEOS built-in PMA-900HNE network amplifier is an advanced high-current 85-watt per channel design with an oversized power supply that’s good for driving just about any loudspeaker. Denon says it will deliver precise detail, imaging, and balance .

Streaming is a breeze, due to easy Wi-Fi network connectivity, providing access to a wide range of content from popular service providers. It also has AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, and multi-room audio capability through the HEOS feature. The PMA-900HNE is compatible with high-resolution digital audio files of up to 24-bit/192kHz and DSD 2.8MHz/5.6MHz resolution.

Finally, the DCD-900NE CD player, designed to complement the PMA-900HNE. According to Denon, it uses “the most advanced AL32 Processing Plus digital signal processing and filtering to reproduce each recording with precision and clarity.” The player also features an integrated USB port that supports high-resolution playback of up to PCM 24-bit/192kHz and DSD 2.8MHz/5.6MHz resolution.

The DCD-900NE’s vibration-resistant design “isolates the player from unwanted energy, delivering the purest audio signal in any system.”

The three new models are already shipping, and the retail prices are:
PMA-1700NE – US$2.099
The DCD-900NE – US$529
The PMA-900HNE – US$949
