OPPO Digital bows out, promises to continue technical support

April 4, 2018 Leave a Comment Written by The Editor

OPPO Digital’s announcement on April 2 that it is saying goodbye to the hi-fi audio and AV arena sent shockwaves through the industry, but owners of these products need not panic and feel they’ve been abandoned. Support and warranty for existing products will continue for the foreseeable future – it’s just that there will be no more new offerings. The parent in China company obviously wants to focus on its core smartphone business.

“Though OPPO Digital will gradually stop manufacturing new products, existing products will continue to be supported, warranties will still be valid, and both in-warranty and out-of-warranty repair services will continue to be available. Firmware will continue to be maintained and updates released from time to time. Customers can rest assured that they will continue to receive the high quality service and support that they have come to expect from OPPO Digital,” the company assured product owners on its website.

Once the current stock at stores worldwide are exhausted, there will be no replacements, although parts will be available.

“We are proud to have made such well-regarded products and to have served the enthusiast community. Without our customers’ suggestions, encouragement, and support, we could not have accomplished these achievements.

“From now on, OPPO Digital will focus our main effort on organising and ensuring long-term support for the existing generation of products. As such, we will not have the resources to develop and release new generations of products,” it said.

OPPO Digital was set up 14 years ago in the United States, and made its mark with a range of acclaimed universal disc players, spanning three generations from DVD, Blu-ray, to 4K UHD, and popular planar-magnetic headphones.
