Sony does a Bluetooth turntable – the PS-LX310BT

January 10, 2019 1 Comment Written by The Editor

THE next step in vinyl pleasures – a Bluetooth-enable turntable, this one coming from Sony in guise of the PS-LX310 BT. The belt-driven, two-speed model has an on-board Bluetooth transmitter, allowing you to pair it with a variety of wireless devices (soundbars, speakers, headphones) for instant vinyl fulfilment.

According to the Sony literature, the LX310BT “allows for different gain selects. This ensures wide compatibility of vinyl when using different playback systems and Bluetooth connections for volume adjustment. There is also a built-in phono pre-amp, which can be selected for use with amplifiers offering only line-level connection.”

The one-step auto playback feature lets the turntable “automatically lower the tone arm, find the groove and get the music flowing… and when the record ends, just sit back as the tone arm automatically returns to its resting position.”

The LX310BT has an aluminium die-cast platter for “superb sound balance and a newly-designed tone arm for sound stability”. You also get a thick and sturdy dust cover to “resist resonance”.

Sony adds: “The LX310BT has a stylish and premium look and feel thanks to a carefully-designed texture and quality build. There are also direct buttons on the body for intuitive operation, including the direct Bluetooth button, allowing you to easily start, stop and pair your device.”

The turntable comes equipped with an MM cartridge.

The Sony PS-LX310BT, which was announced at the ongoing CES 2019 in Las Vegas, will be available later in the year; in Malaysia, expect it in August.
