Samsung HW-Q950T, HW-Q900T… sleeker, more stylish premium soundbars

IF you’re aiming for maximum soundbar thrills, the new Samsung HW-Q950T promises to deliver – it features 9.1.4 channel configuration, the highest currently available for home cinema systems, via a single soundbar.

The HW-Q950T adds two wireless rear up-firing units and a pair of left/right wide-channel speakers to the previous 7.1.4 system, “allowing the audio output to express the motion on the screen in a more realistic way with greater immersion.”

It is one of the two new models – the other being the HW-Q900T – that rounds up Samsung Malaysia Electronics’ 2020 Q Series line-up.

Samsung assures us that “both the HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T support Dolby Atmos – which transports listeners with immersive, moving audio that flows all around you – along with DTS:X from DTS for multi-dimensional audio technology… they also include eARC support to produce full, rich and high-quality surround sound like Dolby TrueHD.”

The immersive experience can be enhanced by connecting the soundbars to Samsung’s 2020 QLED TVs. “Q-symphony activates and plays surround sound from both the TV and soundbar, creating incredible audio synergy with compatible TVs.”

Compared to 2019 soundbar models, Samsung has reduced the height of both of models to 69.5mm from 83mm to fit perfectly with the TV.

“The soundbars are also wrapped in Kvadrat textile, adding premium elegance while maximising sound penetration.

“In collaboration with Audio Lab in the US, we have been able to develop multi-dimensional surround sound that can be more accessible at home, which was previously only possible with a separate home-theatre system.

“The HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T also feature premium fabrics from Danish textile brand Kvadrat, adding to the visual appeal of the devices,” said Jimmy Tan, consumer electronics head, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

The two new models also feature SmartThings App and Bixby, allowing users to command their favourite music streaming services, like Spotify and TuneIn.

“Music lovers can also now enjoy their favoUrite music with a simple tap. The Tap Sound feature allows the music from your smartphone to be sent directly to the soundbar.”

From now to Sept 30, consumers can save up to RM1,700 on purchase of selected Samsung soundbar models as listed below:

Q950T (RM6,499) – RM 4,799
Q900T (RM4,999) – RM3,699
Q800T (RM3,999) – RM2,999
Q70T (RM3,399) – RM2,699
Q60T (RM2,599) – RM1,899
