PS Audio’s new Sprout100 amp now available

May 3, 2018 Leave a Comment Written by The Editor

THERE’S a new Sprout integrated amplifier from PS Audio – it’s the Sprout100, which builds on the first-generation model’s strengths while keeping the price sane.

Expect double the power at 100 watts per channel (into four-ohm loads), while the built-in DAC, Bluetooth, phono preamp and headphone amp remain.

According to the company, “revised topologies improve the noise levels and dynamic capabilities of the phono pre and the headphone amp” while “the Sabre 9016 replaces the previous Wolfson DAC and improves linearity.”

Also, there are the latest, state-of-the-art ICE power modules for “stunning sound quality and dynamic impact.”

Additionally, the Sprout100 has a fully asynchronous DAC that can handle 24-bit/384kHz PCM or double rate DSD, a dedicated subwoofer output, optional bass boost, remote control, analogue RCA inputs and outputs and Toslink optical input.

The price is US$599 and the units begin shipping this month, direct from the PS Audio factory, or through Amazon and selected dealers.
