On the quiet with Sony’s WI-C600N neckband wireless ‘phones

WHEN you’re on the move and listening to music, you certainly would want to shut out all the noise around you. A plethora of headphones and earbuds let you do this, but few offer noise cancellation technology that’s as effective as Sony’s… as available on the new WI-C600N.

To start with, this “neck band” design promises superior sonics via the Sony’s Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) technology that enhances the audio quality of compressed music files. The driver unit is a 6mm dome type.

Then, the onboard noise cancellation (NC) technology and Ambient Sound mode shut out external noise with great effect, letting you enjoy your music in peace.

Finally, of course, there’s Bluetooth capability and one-touch listening via NFC. It’s a totally hands-free operation, and you can make/answer calls via the built-in microphone – the WI-C600N is compatible with both Siri and Google Assistant.

As for the physical aspects, according to Sony, “the magnetic housing snaps the earbuds in place to keep tangled cords at bay, while the headset is also perfectly engineered to enhance comfort for prolonged use. The light-weight neck band fits securely and is made with an elastic material to improve wearing comfort, making them ideal for all-day wear.”

The built-in battery is charged via USB (2.5 hours for a full charge) and should be good for 6.5 hours with NC on, and 7.5 hours without it.

Each unit weighs about 27g. A USB Type-CTM cable (20cm), and long hybrid silicone rubber earbuds (SS, S, M and L sizes) are provided in the box.

Colour options for the WI-C600N are black, grey and blue – all available in January 2019.
